Bowls Australia are currently looking into the feasibility of running the Australian Championships and Australian Champion of Champions in late November and have asked each STA for their input.
Due to the COVID situation in Victoria, it is Bowls NSW position that the Australian Championships should be cancelled or at least postponed.
Bowls NSW are also aware that due to COVID hotspots throughout the state, club number restrictions and increased entries, that most Zones are finding it difficult to get enough venues to host, organise markers for singles and time to complete remaining championships due to condensed calendar.
Bowls NSW is looking into all options for the 2020 State Championships and Champions of Champions. This includes cancellation or moving them to be played in early 2021.
This will be based upon the decision made by Bowls Australia, which is expected next week.
The State Match Committee will allow for any Zone to postpone any championships and re-schedule at a better time later in year, beyond advertised closing dates, if needed.
If any Zones would like an extension to complete, please send an email to [email protected] with expected dates of completion of remaining championships.
A further update on 2020 State Championships will be made as soon as practicable, once we are notified by Bowls Australia of their decision regarding Australian Championships.
If any clubs/districts/zones have questions regarding this, please contact either David Ellis or Andrew Lynn at head office on 9283 4555.
