A new Champion will be crowned when the Inter-Zone Sides Championship reaches its finale at Grandviews on Sunday (15 March).
Wet weather affected the quarter finals and forced the matches to be shortened, having little effect on three of the games where one side conceded victory.
Sydney Central & Southern (Zone 13), Illawarra (Zone 16) and Hunter (Zone 6) each had significant leads when the games were conceded, eliminating South Eastern NSW (Zone 7), South Western NSW (Zone 8) and North Eastern NSW (Zone 3).
The major news from the quarter finals was that Sydney Northern eliminated defending champions Sydney South West (Zone 12). The three-time champions trailed 45-54 when the rain shortened duration of 54 ends was reached, ending their quest for a fourth straight title.
The performance of South Western NSW and North Eastern NSW to top their sections was a fantastic performance. It was the first time either Zone had progressed to the knockout phase in some time.
For South Eastern NSW the Quarter Final appearance added to a fantastic performance from their Runner Up performance in the Senior Inter-Zone.
The semi finals of the Inter-Zone Sides Championship are scheduled to commence at 9AM at Grandviews Bowling Club.
