Bowls NSW is pleased to announce the 2019 Rookies is now open!
The NSW Rookies Championships have been played for 10 years, with Bowls NSW accepting the challenge from Mick Bell, the ‘father’ of the Rookies in NSW to promote and develop the event.
Up until 2009, Mick ran a Rookies competition, the initial finals series being held at Bondi BC.
When Bowls NSW accepted the challenge to take on the Rookies as a State Event, Raymond Terrace BC came on board as the State Finals series host and the Rookies State Finals series has been at home in the Hangar – the home of the Raymond Terrace Jets ever since.
In the last 10 years, the Rookies has entrenched itself as one of the premier events on the NSW bowls calendar and the State Finals series recognised as one of the best for atmosphere, reflecting the motto behind the event “have a crack”.
In the 10 years that Bowls NSW has conducted the Rookies, almost 10 000 players (across both singles and pairs) have taken to greens to enjoy our wonderful sport.
Qualifying for 2019 Rookies will be held at venues right across NSW.
