The 2019 NSW State Junior Championships has come to a conclusion with Daniel Davies and Toby Peters capturing the Pairs Crown at Warilla Bowling Club, the Home of the NSW State Junior Championships.
Davies who hails from Windang and Peters who has recently transferred from Warilla to Dapto Citizens to take up an apprenticeship, claimed a solid win in the final over Jack McShane and Michael Phillips (Merrylands, Sydney North West, Zone 10).
Phillips earlier won the State Junior Singles and with McShane was also runner up in the State Junior Fours this year. McShane was also a finalist in the State Junior Pairs in 2017 and collected his second Runner Up medallion.
Davies and Peters booked their passage to the final after they withstood a late charge from James Robinson (West Dubbo) and Jordan Thompson (Gulgong) representing Mid-Western NSW (Zone 4).
McShane and Phillips were struggling in their semi-final, trailing Joseph Clarke (Park Beach) and Josh Carney (Port City) who were representing North Coast (Zone 14) by 4 shots after 12 ends. The Sydney North West Pair then collected 4 on each of the 13th and 14th ends to lead by 4, scoring a single on the final end to take the game.
Bowls NSW thanks Warilla Bows & Recreation for their magnificent support of the NSW State Junior Championships, an event the club has hosted and sponsored since 1997.
