The 2019 NSW State Junior Championships are set to enter a last day with the Pairs Semi-Finals and Final to complete the Championships at Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club (The Home of the NSW State Junior Championships).
The first of the Semi-Finals has the local Illawarra Zone 16 team of Daniel Davies and Toby Peters (Windang/Warilla) up against the Mid Western NSW Zone 4 team of James Robinson and Jordan Thompson (West Dubbo/Gulgong).
Davies and Peters qualified from a section of three teams after a smashing 35-9 first round win over 2017 Champions Ryan Klem & Matthew Swan (Cabramatta – Sydney South West Zone 12) and then beating Katie Astley and Kane Shorter (Wallacia – Greater Western Sydney, Zone 5).
Robinson & Thompson qualified in convincing style, with 3 good wins over Sydney Northern, Central Coast and Hunter.
Michael Phillips qualified for his third semi-final of the championships after an exciting third round tussle with North Western NSW, Zone 3. Phillips teamed with Jack McShane to win an exciting last end thriller against Tim Thorning and Caleb Cameron (Gunnedah, Zone 3). Coming into their third round clash both teams had enjoyed victories over Manning (Zone 11) and South Western NSW (Zone 8). Phillips and McShane were part of the Zone 10 team to finish as Runners Up in the State Junior Fours.
Zone 10 will take on the North Coast (Zone 14) team of Joseph Clark (Park Beach) and Josh Carney (Port City) after they recorded three wins, beating Newcastle (Zone 2), South Eastern NSW (Zone 7) and Sydney Central & Southern (Zone 13)
