Warilla, as part of their tremendously valued ongoing sponsorship & hosting agreement with Bowls NSW, have partnered with Kiama to bring the State Grade 6 finals to the Illawarra region. As with all grades, clubs from every corner of the State will converge on these 2 host clubs for the right to be crowned 2019 Grade 6 Champion.
Zone 16 club, Collies Orb, who last competed in a State Final series way back in 1976 will carry the hopes of the local contingent. This grade has several sides like Collies in making a comeback to State Finals, alongside a couple of other clubs, who have managed to get multiple sides in Grade finals, showcasing their excellent depth and club programs.
Section 1 to be played at Warilla, will have Concord Community (Zone 10), Kempsey Macleay RSL (Zone 14), Olds Park (Zone 13) & Mounties (Zone 12), who are attempting to replicate their 2011 success in this grade, play each other.
Warilla also hosts Section 2, which will see Cardiff (Zone 2), Cootamundra Ex- Services (Zone 8), Grafton District Services (Zone 1) and Collies Orb (Zone 16) play one another to advance to the post sectional matches.
In Section 3, Belrose (Zone 9), Forster (Zone 11), Moree Services (Zone 3) and East Cessnock (Zone 6) will head to Kiama to do battle.
The remaining Section 4 clubs will also play at Kiama with Diggers @The Entrance (Zone 15) playing off against Campbelltown City (Zone 5), Mallacoota (Zone 7) and Eugowra (Zone 4).
Another grade that country clubs have had a stranglehold on over the last 20 seasons and Head of Sport & Operations, David Ellis cannot see that changing but is expecting some close matches and predicts that the winner could possibly come from Zone 5’s Campbelltown City or Cootamundra Ex-Services from Zone 8.
Semi Finals & Final will be played at Warilla.
